I have Mitsuki Hoshi’s first 2 books Ami Ami Dogs and Ami Ami Dogs 2. I love these books and have made many dogs from them, so I was really exited when I received this book for Christmas a few years ago.
Flipping through it, I fell in love with the cute jellyfish and turtle. However, I was disappointed when I discovered that not all the patterns for the animals shown were actually included in the book.
Only 10 out of 26 are included in the book.
The patterns that are actually included are:

The Bear, Chicken, Duck, Hamster, Koala, Lion, Otter, Panda, Rabbit, and Seal. I have figured out how to make some of the animals whose patterns are not included in the book.

Below is the jellyfish amigurumi pattern inspired by the jellyfish in the book.

This would also make a great cat toy if you stuff it with catnip instead of stuffing. Just be sure to sew everything on really tight and omit the safety eyes.

Jellyfish amigurumi:

You will need:

  • Medium weight white yarn ( I used Vanna’s Choice in white)
  • Size D/3.25mm crochet hook
  • Tapestry needle
  • Safety eyes
  • Stuffing (I used Poly-fil)

sc= single crochet       sts= stitches        rnd= round

Note: do not join unless told to do so.

Jellyfish Head:

Rnd 1: magic ring, 6 sc into ring (6 sts)

Rnd 2: 2 sc in each sc around (12 sts)

Rnd 3:*1 sc, 2 sc in next* repeat from * to * 5 more times (18 sts)

Rnd 4: * 1 sc in next 2 sc, 2 sc in next sc* repeat from * to * 5 more times (24 sts)

Rnd 5: *1 sc in next 3 sc, 2 sc in next sc* repeat from * to * 5 more times (30 sts)

Rnds 6-7: 1 sc in each sc around (30 sts)

At the end of round 7, slip stitch to the first sc and fasten off.

Jellyfish Body:

Magic ring,

Rnd 1: 6 sc into ring.

Rnd 2: 2 sc in each sc around.

Rnd 3-5: 1 sc in each sc around.

At the end of rnd 5 join with a slip stitch to first sc, leaving a tail to sew to body.

Tentacles:

These are just simple single crochet corkscrews.

To make these, chain desired length of tentacles (I did 20 chains) and sc 3 in each of the chains to the end. Fasten off leaving a tail for sewing onto the body.

Repeat to make as many tentacles as you want! For the jellyfish pictured, I made 5 tentacles.

Finishing: sew the tentacles onto the body, stuff the body and sew the head onto the body so that the head covers most of the body.
Attach the safety eyes between rnds 5 and 6.
