“Poke A Stick At A Grizzly Bear” – DWTD #2

You may remember that last month I posted a pattern for the first character from the animated music video Dumb Ways To Die by Tangerine Kitty. In honor of Halloween, here’s the pattern for the second character Hapless who has made the decision to “Poke a stick at a grizzly bear”.

You will need:

  • a size D/3.25mm crochet hook
  • mustard yarn
  • red yarn
  • very small amount of white yarn (for bone)
  • small amount of stuffing
  • needle

 

Body:

with white yarn,

magic ring, 6 sc into ring, change to red yarn and join with sl-st to first st (6 sts)

Rnd 2: ch 1, 2 sc in each st around, join to first st (12 sts)

Rnd 3: ch 1, *2 sc in one st, sc in next st* repeat from *to* 5 more times, join to first st (18 sts)

Rnd 4: ch 1, *2 sc in one st, sc in next 2 sts* repeat from *to* 5 more times, change to mustard yarn & join to first st (24 sts)

Rnd 5: ch 1, in BLO, sc around, join to first st (24 sts)

Rnds 6-8: repeat Rnd 5.

Rnd 9: ch 1, *sc in next 2 sts, sc2tog*, repeat from *to* 5 more times, join to first st (18 sts)

Rnd 10: ch 1, *sc in next st, sc2tog*, repeat from *to* 5 more times, join to first st (12 sts)

Stuff body

Rnd 11: ch 1, *sc2tog* repeat from *to* 5 more times join to first st (6 sts)

Fasten off & close remaining hole.

Arms (x2):

Note: You will be working into the back bump of the chain

ch 13,

sl-st in 2nd back bump from hook and down the rest of the chain (12 sts)

Fasten off, leaving a tail for sewing. Weave in ends

Sew arms on opposite sides to Rnds 5 & 6.

 Legs (x 2):

Follow directions for arms

Sew legs on opposite sides to Rnds 8 & 9.

Blood Spurt:

ch 11, sl-st back bump of 2nd ch & in the next 4 sts, ch 6 and sl-st down the length of chain, sl-st down length of starting remaining chain. (15 sts)

Fasten off, leaving a tail for sewing to body & weave in ends.

Sew to Rnd 2, just behind Rnd 1.
