One of my favorite things to crochet are baby booties. And while I was browsing on Ravelry I found this adorable pattern for Rain boots by Repeat Crafter Me. After making them I decided something was missing and decided to make a rain hat to go with it. After a search for “rain hat” on Ravelry turned up nothing, I decided to try making my own pattern. For my first pattern, I think it turned out pretty well.

Incidentally, this also works in black as a bowler Thompson and Thomson hat (you know, from Tintin), or in red as a Paddington Bear hat.

The yarn I am using is Caron United in Mustard.

Add this pattern to your Ravelry queue

You will need:
Size G/4.25 mm or size H/5.00mm crochet hook
Yellow yarn
Tapestry needle (for weaving in ends)

Rnd 1: Magic ring, ch 2, 11 dc into ring, join to first dc.
Rnd 2: ch 2, 2dc in each dc around, join to first dc (22 sts)

Rnd 3: ch 2, *1 dc in one stitch, 2 dc in next* repeat from * to* 10 more times, join to first dc (33 sts)
Rnd 4: ch 2 *1 dc in each of next 2 dc, 2dc in next dc* repeat from *to* 10 more times, join to first dc (44 sts)
Rnd 5: ch 2 *1 dc in each of next 3 dc, 2 dc in next dc* repeat from *to* 10 more times, join to first dc (55 sts)
Rnd 6: ch 2 *1 dc in each of next 4 dc, 2 dc in next dc* repeat from *to* 10 more times, join to first dc (66 sts)
Rnds 7-11: ch 2, 1 dc in each dc around, join to first dc (66 sts)
Rnd 12: ch 4, in back loops only *1 tr in each of next 2 dc, 2 tr tin next dc* repeat from *to* join to first tr (88 sts)
Rnd 13: ch2, in both loops dc in each triple around, join to first dc (88 sts)

Rnd 14: ch2, 1 dc in each dc around. (88 sts)

Fasten off and weave in ends.

Roll rnds 12-14 up to make a sweet little brim.
