20 Gift Ideas For Yarnbenders

The holiday season is once again upon us! Fall may be my favorite season, but winter is a very close second. It’s definitely my favorite candy and food holiday season.
It also means that it’s the season of holiday shopping and trying to find the perfect thing for everyone on your list. I actually enjoy the challenge of finding something for the people on my list. What I dislike is trying to think of things that I want.

This list was a little too much fun to put together and I may or may not have found some things to add to my wishlist.

Do you get your shopping done before Thanksgiving or after?

Today I’m going to try and help you with gift ideas for the yarnbender in your life (or for yourself).
As much as possible, I’ve tried to source these gift ideas from small business.
I’ve divided this list into 3 categories based on price: Stocking Stuffers ($10 or less); Less than $20; and Less than $50.

Stocking Stuffers ($10 or less)

Yarn Gauge Mini Tool – $8

This wooden 2.5” square tools are handmade by Katrinkles and are a great thing to keep on your craft cart or in your project bag. My favorite is probably the yarn gauge with the WPI (wraps per inch) and a 1 inch slot for measuring. There are other mini tools available such as sock sizes.

Color Now, Crochet Later coloring book – $9.49

This crochet themed coloring book by Brianna from Life and Yarn is perfect for the yarnie in your life. You could gift the book on its own or pair with a set of nice pencils to make a complete gift set. If your pairing with pencils, my artist sister recommends Prismacolor pencils. Whatever you do, do NOT use Roseart (unless you really hate the recipient). I don’t judge people for much, but using intentionally using Roseart is one of them.

Yarn Is A Girls Best Friend Notebook – $6.99

This blank notebook from A Crafty Concept is great to keep track of all things yarn or anything else.

Yarn Cutter Pendant – $8.67

Somehow when you need them the most, all of your many pairs of scissors vanish. This option is great because its a pendant and can be worn as a necklace so you supposedly have less chance of misplacing it.

Stitch Marker Tin – $6.99

These little suckers somehow always find a way to disappear, so a replenishment is almost always appreciated. This particular set has a variety of stitch marker types, sizes, and 3 metallic finishes in a neat little tin.

Eucalan Wool Wash – $8.35

This concentrate is great for blocking items, especially ones made from any sort of natural fiber. It’s available in a variety of scents including Grapefruit, Jasmine, Eucalyptus, Lavender, as well as unscented. These little bottles are 3.5 oz, which are good for about 20 washes.

Needle Stoppers – $3.66

When transporting your knitting projects its important to make sure that your stitches don’t slide off of the needles and ruin your hard work! Putting needle stoppers at the tips of the needles helps prevent the stitches from coming off. You could also put these at the ends of DPNs to use as regular knitting needles. The ones above are shaped like little round yarn balls. Hobby Lobby has some that are shaped like skeins of yarns, and there are many other cute options available on Etsy.

Repair Needle & Hook $8.29

With a hook on one end and a tapered needle on the other, these are kind of like the knitting version of a spork and are a great addition to any knitter’s project bag.

Row Counter – $8.94

Row counters are great for that yarnie that forgets their rows. The particular row counter above is digital as opposed to the clicker types.

There are also stitch marker versions available.

Fingerless Compression Gloves -$8.99

These are amazing for someone who suffers from any joint issues that could interfere with their favorite yarn hobbies. Being fingerless still allows for full function while working in any project or using technology.

$20 & Under

4” Universal Tool – $18

This lovely handmade tool has both a gauge ruler (in both meteoric and imperial measurements) as well as a needle and hook size gauge.

Furls Streamline Crochet Hooks – $17-20

These beautiful wooden ergonomic crochet hooks are definitely a luxury, but if the recipient has joint issues or discomfort with crocheting for long periods of time, these are worth it. They’re available in several different woods depending on preference (I have the ebony and I love them).

Wooden Stitch Markers – $12

I know I’ve already put stitch markers on this list, but if the person on your list has something other than yarn and yarn crafts that they’re into, themed stitch markers are a great idea. Some fun ones are Taylor’s from TaylorLynn Crochet who has several different ones from different TV shows and movies. There are also several on Etsy that are great.

Yarn Bowl – $25

These bowls keep a ball of yarn from running away and getting dirty. There are many different finishes and styles to suit every taste.

Yarn Ball Winder – $19.99

While you certainly can wind a hank of yarn by hand, a winder makes it so much easier and quicker. It turns hanks of yarn into nice easy center pull yarn cakes.

Under $50

Blocking Mats – $44

Many yarnies make do with out blocking mats, but a set of proper mats are a nice upgrade and can help a lot with symmetrical blocking. This set also comes with a package of T-pins.

Neck Lamp – $22

This is a great gift for someone who works with a lot of dark colors. This lamp has adjustable light colors and brightness.

Addi FlexiFlips Double Pointed Needles – $25

A combination of DPNs and circular knitting needles, these needles allow you to knit in the round with only three total needles instead of 4 or 5. This allows for less switching between needles and allows for a more even tension and comfortable knitting experience.

Yarn Swift – $49.99

This holds hanks or skeins of yarn in place while being wound into balls. This would be great paired with the yarn swift I mentioned above.

Adjustable Sock Blockers – $30

These sock blockers are made in the USA and adjust from a women’s size 4 to a men’s size 13.
